Being an island, Puerto Rico's history has been intertwained with that of the shipping history of the Caribbean. Ships have been coming to Puerto Rico since Columbus first set eyes on the island in 1492 discovering the island on November 19th of that year. Commerce and travel have been a constant in Puerto Rico and we have set a separate page to showcase the collection of postcards et al related to ships and shipping.
